The overseas absentee voting for the Philippine mid-term elections started on April 13, 2019 in Taipei and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office extension offices in Taichung and Kaohsiung.

Overseas Filipinos voters are selecting 12 senators and 1 party list representative.

Those who have registered in any of the three MECO branches are before the end of September 2018 are eligible to vote.

The voting will be held from April 13 – May 13, including weekends and holidays, April 18 - 19 and May 1. Voters can cast their ballots from 9am to 5pm in the MECO office where they registered.

The election will be held through an Automated Voting process through Vote Counting Machines (VCM) sent by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). MECO personnel have been trained by the COMELEC to act as election officers and man the polling booths.

Voters are advised to bring a valid, government-issued ID to verify if they are included in the Certified List of Voters before they are given a ballot. They will have to fill the ballots by fully shading the oval beside the names of the candidates and the party list of their choice. Voters then feed their accomplished ballots in the VCM and verify that the same candidates they have voted for are reflected on the vote receipt.

There are around 157,000 Filipinos in the island. Around 40,000 Filipinos registered for this year’s elections.
