TAIPEI, TAIWAN – A short film produced by a Filipino scholar won the first film competition of the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Forum (ICDF) last June 30, 2018.

Pauline Gonzalvo, a scholar of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education at the National Chengchi University, received NT$ 30,000 and a certificate of recognition during the awarding ceremony last Friday, September 21, 2018. She shares the recognition with Raymond Pagnucco, an American, and Aurel Lewis, a Belizean, who also took part in the film project.

Taiwan ICDF selected only six entries among a pool of submissions. Grounded on the competition’s theme “Taiwan in my Eyes”, the submitted entry of Gonzalvo’s team entitled “Taiwan, the Only One” caught the favor of the judges. Their film entry praised the country’s culture, education and other social institutions.

In his introductory address, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Szu-Chien Hsu lauded the film’s remark stating that Taiwan serves as the group’s second home.

The awarding ceremony was attended by national government offcials of Taiwan and delegates from the country representative offices in Taipei.
