Taipei, 20 June 2025 — The Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan proudly announces that it ranked highest in the recently concluded Special Professional Licensure Examinations (SPLE) held from 07 to 09 June 2025. With a passing rate of 66.67%, Taiwan topped the list among the ten international testing venues where the exams were administered.
This year marks the pilot run of the SPLE in Taiwan, making the achievement all the more significant.
MECO Chairperson and Resident Representative Atty. Cheloy E. Velicaria-Garafil, MNSA, expressed her elation at the results: “This is the best news I’ve received today. It’s a very welcome development, especially since this is the first time MECO Taiwan has hosted the SPLE. This achievement truly reflects the resilience, excellence, and global competitiveness of our OFWs in Taiwan.”
Chairperson Garafil also extended her appreciation to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for making the SPLE accessible to Filipino professionals in Taiwan: “We are grateful to the PRC for including Taipei as a testing venue. This initiative has brought the licensure process closer to our kababayans, and we are proud of the excellent outcome.”
The SPLE is administered by the PRC in select international locations to allow overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to take licensure exams without having to be in the Philippines for the exams.
MECO Taiwan remains committed to supporting the professional growth and recognition of Filipino workers in Taiwan and looks forward to hosting more SPLEs in the future.
