Agriculture And Fisheries Technology Transfer

Recognizing that mutually beneficial relations can be developed from the synergy of Taiwanese technology and the Philippines’ abundant resources, MECO established and formalized agricultural linkages through the signing of an MOU through which Taiwan and the Philippines can collaborate in mutually beneficial activities and programs for the advancement of agricultural best practices as well as technology and resource management. The Technical Working Group (TWG) on Agriculture is formed in order to continue development cooperation efforts across all agencies under the umbrella of the Department of Agriculture (PH) and the Council of Agriculture (TW).

In March 9, 2017, the third Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting under the bilateral agreement on law enforcement cooperation in fisheries matters was held in Quezon City, Philippines. Consensus on various issues was reached thereby further advancing and strengthening future law enforcement cooperation in fisheries.

In collaboration with the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center (FFTC), a workshop on Developing Knowledge Management for Small-scale Farmers was conducted in Los Banos, Laguna on May 9-12, 2017. Representatives from the Department of Agriculture also participated in another workshop on Developing Organic Agriculture as New Business Opportunity for Small-scale Farmers on May 23 to 25, 2017 in Yilan University, Taiwan.

The study tour of Department of Agriculture Region VII Field Office was arranged on August 6 to 12, 2017 for the operationalization of agricultural marketing posts.
