Taipei City, Taiwan – Chairman Angelito T. Banayo, the Resident Representative of the Philippine Representative Office in Taiwan, attended the opening ceremony of the 2018 SEMICON Taiwan held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center last September 5, 2018.
SEMICON Taiwan is an annual event which aims to attract firms in the semiconductor industry in East Asia to showcase their products. MECO has been supportive of this event since its first exhibition.
Other notable personalities both coming from the Taiwanese government and market CEOs were also present during the event. SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha and TSMI CEO and Vice Chairman Dr. C.C. Wei delivered the opening remarks. In his address, Manocha expressed his optimism for the growth of the semiconductor industry in the world market; however, he lamented on the reality that technological innovation is useless unless companies will invest to address the shortage of talents around the globe.
Dr. Liang-Gee Chen, Minsiter of the Taiwan’s MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology) was also present in the ceremony and he welcomed the delegates and visitors.
A Philippine delegation composed of 11 persons participated on the SEMICON Taiwan 2018 exhibit. These personnel are affiliated to the Philippine Board of Investments, Electronic Industries Association of the Philippines (EIAPI), Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation (SEIPI), Philippine Electronics and Semiconductor Suppliers Association (PESSA) and Manila Economic and Cultural Office.
